Celo Foundation Partners with Google Cloud to Boost Early Adoption of Web3 Services
The Celo Foundation has partnered with Google Cloud to advance the early adoption of Google Cloud services in Celo’s blockchain ecosystem. The partnership will enable founders building on Celo to access credits for Google Cloud and Firebase usage, enhancing Celo’s mobile-first infrastructure and decentralized applications (DApps).
Google Cloud will also provide mentorship and guidance to the Celo Foundation’s Founders in Residence program and participate in the virtual Celo Camp accelerator program. The two organizations will also co-host targeted workshops and events focused on Web3 sustainability and innovation.
Addressing Sustainability Challenges in Web3
The Celo Foundation and Google Cloud aim to create awareness for blockchain technology and its ability to scale real-world use cases on Celo, while addressing sustainability challenges in Web3.
Xochitl Cazador, the Celo Foundation’s head of ecosystem growth, noted that the partnership will help ecosystem builders tackle sustainability challenges by alleviating the strain on emerging and established projects. Celo has gained recognition as a leader in regenerative finance (ReFi), a broad concept that prioritizes sustainability within finance, and has achieved carbon negativity through proof-of-stake (PoS) consensus.
Opportunities in the Multichain World
Rene Reinsberg, the president of Celo Foundation and co-founder of the Celo blockchain, sees the increase in layer-1 blockchains and layer-2 networks as an opportunity to bring more people into crypto. In a recent episode of Cointelegraph’s Hashing It Out podcast, Reinsberg discussed the ReFi movement and Celo’s plans to stay relevant in the multichain world.
As the Web3 ecosystem continues to evolve, partnerships such as the one between the Celo Foundation and Google Cloud are likely to play an important role in advancing the adoption of Web3 services and addressing sustainability challenges.
