- Unstoppable Domains has expanded its Web3 services by adding support for Ethereum Name Service (ENS) domain endings, simplifying digital identities on the Ethereum blockchain.
- To further streamline the user experience, the platform offers auto-renewal for Ethereum-based domains and enables payment through both fiat methods like credit cards and cryptocurrencies.
Digital identity platform Unstoppable Domains is enhancing its Web3 capabilities by incorporating support for Ethereum Name Service (ENS) domains. This move marks an expansion of the platform’s current offerings, integrating .eth domain endings alongside its existing .crypto, .nft, and .polygon domain endings.
ENS Domains: Simplifying Digital Identities
For those less acquainted with .eth domains, they essentially simplify your complex wallet address (like 0x74Fe1103d28fb79F4d83800003983390Dfc61234) into a much more manageable name, such as “me.eth”. This allows users to easily house their digital identity on the Ethereum blockchain.
As part of its mission to attract new users to .eth domains, Unstoppable Domains is introducing additional features designed to ease the ownership experience. The platform now provides an auto-renewal service for Ethereum-based domains, removing the burden of having to remember to renew domain endings and avoiding the potential loss of sought-after domain names.
Moreover, the company is set to launch a vault system for the secure custody of buyers’ domains before they are connected to their wallets. To broaden its payment options, Unstoppable Domains now accepts fiat payments, including credit cards, PayPal, Apple Pay, or Google Pay, in addition to cryptocurrency.
With 3.6 million registered Unstoppable Domains and 2.7 million ENS domain holders, the two providers are at the forefront of digital identity preservation in the blockchain industry. Matt Gould, CEO and Co-Founder of Unstoppable Domains, said to CoinDesk that facilitating the purchase of .eth domains for new users will attract customers who may not yet be fluent in the Web3 ecosystem.
“They don’t want to have to think about having to pay with a whole bunch of different types of cryptocurrency or having 1,000 different wallets they have to keep track of… that’s kind of the experience that we’re leaning into,”
explained Gould.
While customers purchasing a .eth domain from Unstoppable will have access to ENS integrations, they won’t be able to utilize Unstoppable integrations at the outset. However, Gould noted that the company is actively working on establishing an industry standard through its involvement in the Web3 Domain Alliance, an organization focused on shaping the future of digital identity in the crypto space.
Even amid a bear market, Unstoppable Domains has been dynamic in building partnerships and extending support for new domain endings. Earlier this year, it added Opera-compatible domain endings .crypto and .zil, and in March, the platform teamed up with Polygon to release .polygon domain endings, providing holders access to over 750 applications on the network.
