Shimmer EVM Testnet Achieves Impressive Milestones
The Shimmer EVM testnet has achieved a significant milestone, hitting 1 million transactions and over 38,000 wallet addresses. Additionally, more than 2,200 smart contracts have been deployed on the platform. IOTA co-founder Dominik Schiener celebrated this achievement on Twitter, highlighting the resilience, speed, and reliability of the network.

Shimmer EVM Test Chain Launch and Expansion
Launched on March 29, the Shimmer EVM testnet is a key step in expanding the reach of the interoperable Shimmer protocol to a wider community of blockchain users and developers who create EVM-compatible smart contracts. The Shimmer EVM on testnet paves the way for its much-anticipated release on the Shimmer network, offering various possibilities and access to features available in the Shimmer protocol.
During the public testnet phase, the Shimmer EVM will undergo further testing and validation to identify potential bugs or improvements.
Pyth Network Integration and Treasures of Shimmer Incentive Campaign
In early April, the Shimmer Network announced the deployment of Pyth Network’s oracle contracts on the Shimmer EVM testnet. This integration allows projects on Shimmer to access real-time price data on the EVM, a critical feature for lending protocols and derivatives platforms.
In a separate announcement, the Shimmer Network unveiled the upcoming Treasures of Shimmer incentive campaign. Set to begin on May 3, 2023, the two-week-long campaign aims to reward projects and users who participate in the public testing of the EVM chain and the decentralized applications (dApps) deployed on it. Participants will have the opportunity to partake in a prize pool of 1,300,000 SMR tokens.
