This pioneering venture signals Casio’s foray into the burgeoning realm of Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs), digital assets that are unique and indivisible.
Leveraging Community Engagement: The G-SHOCK Creator Passes
In an unprecedented move, Casio is turning to its community to source design concepts for the G-SHOCK creator pass. These passes, to be launched later this month, will not only be NFTs but also serve as keys to a dedicated Discord channel for the project. Essentially, Casio aims to democratize design by allowing the community to vote on the proposed concepts. The design that garners the most votes will be integrated into a variant of the NFT pass.
Customers who’ve registered for a CASIO ID on the brand’s official site are eligible for a special pre-distribution from September 23-26. The initiative will subsequently expand its reach with a public distribution phase from September 26-29.
Only weeks before this revelation, Casio had filed for a trademark application with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, covering virtual clothing, NFT-backed media, and virtual stores, among other things. This legal maneuver readies Casio to extend the brand of its most celebrated line, the shock-resistant G-SHOCK, into digital realms.
