The virtual experience, called ‘Airphoria,’ is the result of a partnership between Nike, Fortnite creator Epic Games, and branded game builder Beyond Creative. From now until June 27, Fortnite players can participate in Airphoria by visiting the Air-Max themed virtual island for at least 10 minutes. As a reward, they will receive the Air Max 1 ’86 Back Bling, a digital sneaker that can be showcased within the Fortnite game.
During the Airphoria event, players have the opportunity to link their Epic Games and Nike accounts. This linkage enables players to claim an “Achievement” on Nike’s .SWOOSH platform. It’s important to note that these achievements cannot be traded or sold and do not hold any monetary value.
According to an Epic Games spokesperson, this collaboration between Epic Games, Nike, and Fortnite marks the beginning of future partnerships that allow players to connect their online presence across different ecosystems. The goal is to integrate Nike’s Air Max brand into the world of Fortnite, offering cosmetics, Fortnite islands, and account linking between Nike and Epic. Additionally, Nike .SWOOSH achievement badges will be introduced for players who link their accounts.
