Highlights: Money 20/20 is bringing the power of Ethereum to the financial services sector with a session on Monday, the 24th from 4:00pm- 4:25pm, titled Ethereum: Empowering the Edge, Today’s Challenges and Tomorrow’s Opportunities. This session will discuss how Ethereum’s public blockchain platform enables added programmable transaction functionality to run smart contracts and how it can benefit the financial industry.
Vitalik Buterin, founder of Ethereum is scheduled to speak during this session with Don Tapscott, Author of “Blockchain Revolution” and CEO of The Tapscott Group, moderating the session.
In late 2013, before he had reached the age of 20, Vitalik Buterin proposed and began development of Ethereum, a decentralized blockchain platform that allows developers to easily deploy smart contract applications that run exactly as programmed without any possibility of downtime, censorship, fraud or third-party interference. Today, Ethereum is now the second most valuable blockchain behind bitcoin and arguably even more influential. In this session, hear an insightful conversation between Vitalik and Don Tapscott, leading authority on innovation and author of "The Blockchain Revolution," as they explore the latest news on Ethereum, perspective on recent challenges, its wide range of potential applications and their vision for the future.
The conversation around blockchain tech continues to evolve and mature. Bitcoin now faces governance and scaling challenges. Ethereum, a public blockchain platform with additional programmable transaction functionality to run smart contracts, is experiencing dramatic growth. Meanwhile, overall venture and corporate investment in blockchain initiatives is strong. Major banks, industry consortiums and tech companies are exploring non-currency applications of blockchain technology such as securities settlement and property title. In this track, we’ll explore the current and future state of blockchain tech, including private blockchains, public and decentralized shared ledger systems, and digital currencies.
On Tuesday from 5:00-5:50, a session called All Together Now: How Bank and Tech Partnerships are Shaping the Future of the Blockchain will join together blockchain enthusiasts and professionals. Joseph Lubin, founder of ConsenSys will present, along with Chris Church of Digital Holdings, Christ Ferris of IBM, and David Watson of Deutsche Bank.
Blockchain tech has come a long way. By now, most of the largest banks and some notable tech giants are participating in industrywide blockchain standard-setting activities, partnering with startups and taking different approaches to determining which use cases would improve upon existing technology. Hear some of the key participants in these cross-industry partnerships discuss how collaboration is shaping the future of blockchain technology. How will these partnerships be successful? And what are the key challenges to overcome?
Other sessions about blockchain technology and Ethereum will be discussed with a session on The Power of Prediction Markets and Advanced Data Analytics. Joey Krug, Core developer of the Ethereum-based Augur prediction market will also present during this panel.
