Ethereum Sets Record With Nearly 2.6 Million Daily Transactions

Ethereum recorded its highest daily transaction count on Wednesday, reaching nearly 2.6 million transactions in a single day.

Data shown on Etherscan places total transactions at 2,595,176 on January 14, 2026, marking a new all-time high for the network.

The surge stands out against activity levels seen over the past six months, where daily transactions generally fluctuated between roughly 1.4 million and 1.8 million. The latest data point shows a sharp acceleration, pushing activity well above prior peaks visible on the chart.

Network metrics accompanying the record highlight the scale of on-chain usage during the session. Average block time was reported at 12.05 seconds, with a total of 7,166 blocks produced over the day. Average block size reached 155,497, reflecting sustained throughput rather than a brief spike concentrated in a small number of blocks.

Address-level activity also expanded alongside transaction volume. Etherscan data shows 481,481 new addresses were seen during the same 24-hour period, signaling a broad increase in participation rather than activity driven by a narrow group of wallets.

Viewed in context, the record comes after a steady upward drift in transactions since mid-December. While activity dipped intermittently through the autumn, the trend into January shows higher lows and a decisive breakout at the top end of the historical range shown on the chart.

The combination of record transaction count and a large influx of new addresses places January 14 as a standout day for Ethereum network usage, setting a new benchmark for daily on-chain activity.
