- Twitter has unexpectedly suspended ShibBurn, a third-party application that removes approximately 1.5 million SHIB tokens from circulation daily.
- Despite the suspension, ShibBurn confirms that its burn initiatives continue to function normally, with token burn information now being relayed through its website.
Ever since its inception, ShibBurn, a third-party application, has been consistently ‘burning’ or removing millions of Shiba Inu tokens from circulation daily. However, an unexpected development on Twitter—led by Elon Musk—has seen the ShibBurn application suspended from the platform, preventing it from transmitting information about these ‘burns.’
Since its 2021 launch, ShibBurn had been a prominent presence on Twitter and maintained that it did not infringe on any terms or policies. Expressing surprise at the suspension, the ShibBurn Twitter handle pointed out that it had always operated within the community guidelines and had never experienced any issues or violations with Twitter’s rules.
In a statement, ShibBurn said,
“Our app has been active on Twitter for the past two years without any issues or violations of the platform’s rules. We have always strived to comply with Twitter’s guidelines and maintain a positive presence.”
The suspension by Twitter, therefore, has been received with confusion, especially considering that no specific reason was provided.
Dear @TwitterSupport, @TwitterDev, @elonmusk, @lindayacc
Our Twitter app was suspended a few hours ago, and we strongly believe this to be a mistake. A message on the Developer Portal states that our app has violated Twitter Rules and policies. It also mentioned that an email…

While the suspension has certainly affected the platform’s ability to disseminate ‘burn’ information, ShibBurn wants to assure the community that the burn initiatives are still in full swing. It’s only the Twitter application, which was responsible for relaying these burn details, that has been suspended.
In light of the suspension, ShibBurn is directing users to its website to keep track of daily ‘burn’ updates. It shared,
“Currently, our bot is unable to post on Twitter due to the previously mentioned issue. However, users can stay updated on the latest SHIB burn information through our website. We hope this can be resolved soon.”
Recently, ShibBurn’s tracker indicated that 341 million SHIB tokens were dispatched to a ‘dead wallet.’ The burn numbers have seen a notable increase this month following a crash in its price. As of now, Shiba Inu is trading at $0.00000771, marking a 2.1% drop over a 24-hour trading period. Furthermore, it is down a significant 91.03% from its all-time high of $0.00008616 attained in October 2021.
