- Input Output Global (IOG), the company behind Cardano, has released its financial smart contracts platform, Marlowe, on the mainnet for early testing.
- Marlowe, which doesn’t require specialized programming skills, offers a unique set of tools for the development, integration, and deployment of smart contracts on Cardano.
Marlowe, Cardano’s Smart Contract Platform, Arrives on Mainnet
Input Output Global (IOG), the builder of Cardano, has made a noteworthy announcement: Marlowe, a platform engineered for financial products as smart contracts, is now accessible on the mainnet. Early adopters can now initiate testing and contribute feedback. Marlowe is also available in pre-production and preview testing environments, broadening its accessibility.
We are delighted to announce that @Marlowe_io has been audited both internally and externally by @tweagio, and is now available for developers to run on Cardano mainnet!

Marlowe adds to the expanding suite of languages and tools available on Cardano, introducing a comprehensive toolkit for developing, deploying, and capitalizing on smart contracts.
Safety Assurance and Features of Marlowe
In a thrilling update, IOG revealed that Marlowe has undergone audits both internally and externally by Tweag, a blockchain technology firm. This move bolsters assurance for users about the safety and security of contract use on the mainnet. IOG intends to publish the audit report shortly.
Marlowe stands out from other smart contract creation toolsets, allowing for the swift prototyping and launch of smart contracts without the need for specialized programming skills. This feature opens up the platform for use by the Web3 community and newcomers alike.
The Marlowe Playground, a plug-and-play smart contract builder, offers a simulator environment for testing contracts before deploying them with real funds on the mainnet. It harnesses the power of Plutus and is compatible with JavaScript and Haskell, thereby allowing smooth integration of smart contracts into decentralized applications (dApps).
The Cardano community has shown a lot of enthusiasm towards this development. Rick McCracken DIGI, a Cardano SPO, expressed his optimism about Marlowe, tweeting that it might be a game-changer for Cardano.
“Marlowe is a domain-specific language designed for finance experts, with the intent for non-programmers to write financial smart contracts. I’m curious to hear feedback and see use cases from non-programmers/financial experts. This could be a game-changer,”
he stated.
