  • In May 2023, 14 new dApps were under development, transaction count reached over 67.2 million, and the much-anticipated Marlowe mainnet went live in the Cardano (ADA) ecosystem.
  • The next phase of Project Catalyst, the largest incubator for Cardano products, is set to kick off on June 21, 2023, offering ADA grants to innovative projects.

As the broader cryptocurrency landscape experienced a noticeable lull last month, Cardano’s (ADA) ecosystem proved its resilience, reaching noteworthy achievements. These advances were driven by Input Output Global, the team of developers behind Cardano. In addition, the blueprint for the ensuing stage of Project Catalyst, Cardano’s premier product incubator, was recently unveiled.

Despite the overall slowdown in the crypto market, Cardano demonstrated steadfast growth throughout May 2023. A new decentralized application (dApp) was launched in mainnet, and 14 additional dApps are currently under development. This growth expands the total number of active dApps in the Cardano ecosystem to 127.

The May 2023 retrospective also revealed that over 150,000 new native tokens were minted on the Cardano platform. Moreover, the count of Plutus scripts, which are the blueprint designs for smart contracts, exceeded 8,200. Net transaction count saw a surge, exceeding the 67.2 million transaction mark, which is a significant increase of over 1.8 million compared to April 2023.

Advancements in the technical sphere were also apparent. A new version of Cardano Node software (v.8.0.0) was released, enhancing interactions with on-chain staking pools operators (SPOs). Further, Cardano celebrated the launch of the mainnet release of Marlowe, an open-source toolkit specifically designed to facilitate the development of smart contracts.

Another milestone for Cardano’s ecosystem was the announcement of the next phase of Project Catalyst, Fund 10. Project Catalyst is a community-driven program aimed at fostering innovation within the Cardano ecosystem by offering substantial ADA grants. From June 21, 2023, innovators are invited to propose their products for consideration.

In summary, despite the broader crypto market’s stagnation in May, Cardano’s ecosystem was far from idle. With tech upgrades, an increase in new projects and transactions, and a significant step forward for Project Catalyst, the month of May 2023 reflects a bright future for the ADA ecosystem.
