  • U.S. Crypto Reserve to include XRP, Solana (SOL), Cardano (ADA), Bitcoin (BTC), and Ethereum (ETH).
  • Cryptocurrency prices surged following the announcement, with ADA rising over 68% and BTC reclaiming $91,000.

President Donald Trump announced the establishment of a U.S. Crypto Strategic Reserve on Sunday, March 2, 2025, naming XRP, Solana (SOL), and Cardano (ADA) as initial inclusions.

In a follow-up statement, he expanded the list to encompass Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH), calling them “central” to the initiative. The move aims to solidify the U.S. as a global leader in digital assets, countering what Trump described as “years of corrupt attacks” by the previous administration.

The announcement triggered immediate market reactions. Cardano’s ADA led gains with a 68% surge, while XRP and Solana’s SOL jumped 33% and 25%, respectively. Bitcoin climbed 6% to surpass $91,000, and Ethereum rose 10% to cross $2,400. The broader crypto market capitalization increased by 17%, reflecting renewed investor optimism.

The White House will host its first Crypto Summit on March 7, convening industry leaders to discuss the reserve’s implementation. Trump’s January executive order laid the groundwork for the reserve, directing a federal working group to study its feasibility. The reserve could include cryptocurrencies seized through law enforcement, though specifics remain under review.

This initiative builds on Trump’s 2024 campaign promises to deregulate the sector and establish a national Bitcoin stockpile. Since taking office, his administration has halted SEC enforcement actions against major crypto firms and endorsed dollar-backed stablecoins, contrasting with stricter policies under President Biden.

The announcement marks a pivotal shift in U.S. crypto policy, with stakeholders anticipating further details at the upcoming summit.
