  • In a collaborative venture, Credit Suisse and the Swiss Football Association are launching a unique Ethereum-based NFT collection to support women’s football in Switzerland.
  • This novel project features 756 digital art portraits of Swiss women’s national team players, marking the entry of Credit Suisse into the NFT space.

Credit Suisse has teamed up with the Swiss Football Association to introduce an exclusive NFT collection based on Ethereum to elevate women’s football in Switzerland. Comprising 756 digital art portraits of the Swiss women’s national team players, the NFT collection will be available for sale from July 11 to August 31, exclusively on Credit Suisse’s CSX app.

Innovative Step in NFT Financing and Services

The aim of the initiative, according to Daniel Gorrera, Head of Digital Assets Switzerland at Credit Suisse, is to make it simple for users to participate in the evolving NFT landscape.

“This project lays the groundwork for the innovative use of digital assets in new types of financing and servicing models,”

Gorrera said. He also suggested that Credit Suisse is well-positioned to work with issuers seeking regulated partners within the digital asset space.

The unveiling of this NFT project marks Credit Suisse’s debut in the NFT arena. Just a few months ago, the bank led a $65 million Series B funding round for Taurus, a Swiss digital asset infrastructure firm. Taurus now functions as the technological partner for Credit Suisse’s NFT marketplace within its CSX app.

For the issuance and lifecycle management of the Swiss Football Association NFTs, Credit Suisse capitalizes on Taurus-Capital’s infrastructure. Additionally, Taurus-Protect ensures secure storage of the NFTs. Owing to Taurus’s framework, the NFTs have been launched on the Ethereum blockchain network.

The 756 NFTs are classified into “unique” (1 NFT per player), “rare” (5 different NFTs per player), and “limited” (30 different NFTs per player) categories. This allows for a total of 11 unique NFTs, 55 rare NFTs, and 690 limited NFTs. They are priced at 10,000 Swiss francs for unique, 3,500 Swiss francs for rare, and 150 Swiss francs for limited.

Swiss artist Daniela Filippelli crafted the physical works of art which Credit Suisse then minted as NFTs on the Ethereum blockchain. Potential buyers need not possess an external wallet or cryptocurrencies, as purchases can be made in Swiss francs via direct account debit, with the NFTs stored in the CSX app.

Depending on the tier of purchase, buyers can also enjoy additional perks such as physical artwork, signed jerseys, or exclusive sessions to meet the players. Importantly, the entire net proceeds will be directed to the national team players and projects aimed at promoting talented young female footballers, as per a statement by Credit Suisse.
