Users testing the Base app beta may have noticed sudden fluctuations in their account balances on Monday, but according to Base, no funds were lost. The team explained that the issue stemmed from a display update, not a security or infrastructure failure.
Some people using the Base app beta may have seen a change in their account balance.
This isn't because any funds were lost, but instead due to a change in how content coin values are displayed. Before today, coins with no trades showed a value, even though that value wasn’t…

In a post on X, Base clarified that the new system now shows a balance of zero for coins that haven’t yet been traded, ensuring portfolios reflect real market activity rather than placeholder values. “Before today, coins with no trades showed a value even though that value wasn’t claimable,” the update read.
The change is part of ongoing testing during the beta phase, aimed at improving accuracy with each release.
The clarification followed a broader Amazon Web Services (AWS) outage that temporarily disrupted several crypto platforms, including Coinbase, Reddit, Hulu, EA, Max, and Xbox Network. AWS confirmed later that the issue had been “fully mitigated.”
Despite the brief confusion, Base’s response and transparency helped reassure users that their assets remain secure as the network continues refining its infrastructure and performance.
