Aptos Revels in 900% User Surge Post Chingari Integration

  • Integration of the Aptos blockchain with Indian social media platform Chingari results in a 900% surge in new users.
  • Chingari’s switch to Aptos, driven by better on-chain performance and usability, catalyzes rapid growth in the platform’s daily active users and transaction numbers.

The blockchain technology Aptos, has witnessed a spectacular rise in user engagement subsequent to its fusion with the Indian social media app Chingari, previously supported by Solana. On-chain data reveals that the influx of new users escalated by 900% in comparison to the previous month, recording almost 90,000 new daily on-chain sign-ups.

Chingari commenced its transition to Aptos on July 6, motivated by a quest to enrich the user experience in the aftermath of Solana’s network outages in 2022.

“Due to Solana’s network downtime, we faced challenges that forced us to schedule numerous transactions as opposed to allowing them to be instantaneous, to avoid the risk of transaction failures,”

elaborated Sumit Ghosh, co-founder and CEO of Chingari.

Aptos – Powering Instant On-chain Features

Ghosh accredits the union with Aptos for the recent upswing in new users. The blockchain integration has facilitated instantaneous on-chain capabilities such as virtual gifts, simultaneously introducing Chingari’s new wallet. This novel feature enables users to accumulate tokens via engagement and content generation on the platform. The earned tokens can then be leveraged to tip creators, amplify content visibility, or acquire virtual gifts and nonfungible tokens (NFTs).

The surge in Chingari’s growth doesn’t solely stem from improved functionality. The platform draws strength from India’s massive 1.4 billion-person economy and the soaring acceptance of cryptocurrencies in the country. As per Chainalysis data, India leads the way in crypto adoption in the South Asian region.

As of July 14, Chingari contributed to 80% of the daily active users and 50% of all gas fees paid on the Aptos blockchain. These figures mark an increase of over 500% compared to the previous month. Additionally, the number of transactions surged by 150%, touching almost 2 million daily. If the current momentum is sustained, the platform predicts it will soon surpass the lifetime total of StepN, the second-largest decentralized application (DApp) on Solana. Ghosh’s projections suggest that

“Chingari will reach 1.25 million users by the end of July, which is 10x faster than on Solana, over 20 million on-chain users by the end of the first year, and a cumulative total of more than 200,000 APT paid as gas fees by the end of year one.”

This trend isn’t exclusive to Aptos, other blockchains like Polkadot are also witnessing similar migrations. Mythical Games, a game publisher, recently moved from Ethereum to Polkadot citing reasons of slower transaction speeds and elevated transaction costs on Ethereum.
